Hi, you’re probably here because an Agent (myself) has directed you here to check out this page and info, or, you found this page because you’re interested in buying or selling real estate in the State of North Carolina and someone mentioned “Working With Agents”, and you want to know more.

You’ve come to the right place.

What is it?

Working With Real Estate Agents is a State required Disclosure, and so it’s a form. The form is not a contract. But it is required in all sales transactions including residential and commercial. It’s the Law.

So why did you stop me and send me here?

Real estate agents are required to review the WWA Disclosure form with you – “at first substantial contact” meaning before asking for or receiving your confidential information. This is for your protection.

What else is required?

We’re required to give you a copy after you sign it. That’s it. Review the form and give you a signed copy. And it’s not a contract.

Why is it so important?

The WWA disclosure form spells out agency relationships. It details who is working for who and who represents each person or party. This is important in real estate transactions because once you hire an agent, that agent is required to put your interests first. One way agents do this is by sharing any confidential information they know about the other party with their client.

Agents owe loyalty to their Client. You should hire an agent to represent you, especially if the buyer or seller has an agent.

NOTE: For more information on an agent’s duties and services, refer to the NC Real Estate Commission’s “Questions and Answers on: Working With Real Estate Agents” brochure at ncrec.gov (Publications, Q&A Brochures) or ask an agent for a copy of it.
